According to application, soda ash can be divided into industrial grade soda ash and food grade soda ash. It can also be classified into dense soda ash and light soda ash by bulk density.

Light soda ash is powdery and mainly used for water treatment. Dense soda ash is small granular and mainly applied in glass production.
