Water Softener Salt

Water softener salt, also known as ion exchange resin regenerant. Its main chemical component is sodium chloride (NaCl), generally in spherical pellet form.

Working Principle: Raw water passes through resin; harmful impurity ions (mainly calcium Ca²⁺ and magnesium Mg²⁺ ions) in water are adsorbed by resin to purify water. As water treatment volume rises, adsorbed impurities accumulate and resin adsorption capacity declines. To remove adsorbed calcium and magnesium impurities, sodium ions (Na⁺) are applied via backwashing. Through ion exchange, calcium and magnesium impurity ions are displaced, restoring adsorption capacity of ion exchange resin. This process is called ion exchange resin regeneration.
